Queen Maxim helped Princess Masako believe in herself

The Queen of the Netherlands Maxim helps to cope with the depression of the Japanese Crown Princess Masako – the wife of the Croenprint Naruhito. For almost nine years she suffered from a severe form of depression – the so -called "adaptation disorders syndrome" – And very rarely appeared in public.

The condition of the princess improved after the Queen of Maxim personally persuaded her to come with Naruhito to the inauguration of King Villem-Aleksandra. The Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun describes the situation as follows:

The new King of the Netherlands invited Naruhito to the inauguration back in March when they met at a conference in New York. And yet, King Maxim had to persuade Princess Masako to come in a personal telephone conversation. The conversation helped Masako strengthen faith in herself.

Note that the Dutch and Japanese royal families have been maintaining friendly relations for many years. Even the former Queen of the Netherlands Beatrix spoke of her sympathy and understanding of the problems of Masako, since the husband of Beatrix himself also suffered from depression.
